EMDC 2023 Info Page

1. EMDC REGISTRATION

You will need to pay (or make sure you have a waiver, or transfer) to be completely registered. If you started this registration and are no longer planning to come please let us know. Please take notice that some Tracks are pre-EMDC and some are post-EMDC

2. EMDC LODGING/HOTEL

  1. In previous years we sent registrants to a Horizon Village special page to book their housing. We have now changed so that room preference is made on the same site as your EMDC registration. This is just reserving your room.  Housing payment is still made later to Horizon here based on the Housing Quote you received.
  2. Local/off site: If you are living near or staying near Chiang Mai, you will need to pay for any meals you take as well as a stay out guest fee (coffee/Internet) explained on the EMDC site.
  3. Disclaimer: If you feel that booking at Horizon will compromise your security (based on the country that you live in), please book/stay somewhere else. We are taking significant security precautions at EMDC, but we cannot guarantee anonymity for all.   We are doing many things to make EMDC a secure venue, but we need to state clearly here that it is very possible that your home government learns of your participation at EMDC.  If this is a problem for you, please do not attend.  If you are registered and want to withdraw, please let us know at steve@emdc.info.
  4. Housing at Horizon: Housing will fill up quickly at Horizon.  We have created triple rooms to stretch the number as far as we can.  Below are four important announcements about housing:

A. Rooms. If you saw there were only triples available and decided to go off site, please keep reading before you book elsewhere.  It is possible that you would only have a triple during the EMDC dates, but could have a single or double in pre-EMDC or post-EMDC.  If you want to try this, please write housing@emdc.info.

B. Costs. If you do have a split room (in a triple during EMDC days and a single in post-EMDC) you will pay the cost of a single room on the days you are alone.  The same if your roommate leaves a day earlier than you do, you would then pay the higher rate. Horizon Village will calculate your bill for you, and it is up to you to confirm that what you are billed matches what you expected to be paying.

C. Roommates. The EMDC registration site has a place for a roommate prefernce. If you give a name of a roommate, we will do our best to honor that.

E. Transportation.  If you are staying at Horizon, they will pick you up free of charge from the airport.  It is your job to notify them (not us) of your flight details.  After 20 January 2023, you can send that information to reservations@horizonvillage.net.  See #4 Travel below.

3. VISAS

See if you need a visa hereOur team can help you if you start the process early. Travel insurance for visas?  See #36 Travel Insurance below.

4. TRAVEL

Horizon Free airport pickup : If you are booked at Horizon, please see the travel information on the EMDC site. You can send that information to reservations@horizonvillage.net. Travel insurance for visas?  See #36 Travel Insurance below.

5. WORKSHOPS/SEMINARS

If you would like to propose a one-hour seminar/breakout at EMDC,  please write to info@emdc.info. See the bios of the previous presenters here.

6. DISPLAY SPACE

If you are interested in a display table at EMDC, please go to this page for more information. We make an effort to get product and service information to field workers.  If you make the reservation before 30 April, the table is free.  After that time it is $25.  Most display tables will be in the foyer of a break-out room (free space to you).  For EMDC 2023, there is room for fifteen display tables in the prime lobby spot of the main hall.  These will be rented for $200 per table on a first come first served basis.   This will help us offset our costs. The tables are approximately 45 cm x 180cm (1.80 m). For a reservation and any questions, write to display@emdc.info.

7. “MINI MINUTE-AT-THE-MIC”

If you would like 30 seconds to explain your ministry, or call attention to your booth, please read this information and send your name to minute@emdc.info so we can get those lined up each day. You can send us on-screen graphics or a 20 second video—which gives you 10 seconds to talk! Please send your request in early to minute@emdc.info. Yes…. this used to be a minute-at-the-mic but we have so many people now.

Hey…be creative and win the “Minnie”!!

8. POST-EMDC TRAINING

The IT support team kindly asks you to limit your on-line devices while at EMDC. Please turn OFF the wi-fi feature of your unused devices. This will help all of us.
