FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
- How can the registration for EMDC be only $80? EMDC is staffed by a large group of volunteers to keep our costs low and our training free for hundreds of attendees.
- Can I send info for EMDC on to my trusted friends? If they are trusted believers you may forward EMDC information on to them, or send their contact info to support@emdcon.freshdesk.com You may also post EMDC.info information on a website. They will still need your reference or to be vetted to attended EMDC.
- How can I find out more about EMDC? See all our platforms at emdc.info.
- How can I find out more about the training? See the “Pre/Post-EMDC” tab on the home page.
- Can I get a display table for my organization or product? See the side panel or see the answer here.
- Who are the organizations behind EMDC? The Steering Committee is made up of people from several organization: Cru, Faith Comes By Hearing, Galcom, IMB, Lutheran Bible Translators, OMF, SABDA, SIL, Storyweavers Int’l, Wycliffe Bible Translators, and M2M Media to Movements, and other unmentioned groups (due to security reasons). In 2020, 270 organizations were coming to the EMDC shut down by Covid. In 2023, 227 organizations attended. A list of around 800 organizations that have participated (at least once) since 2010 is found here. A list of sponsoring organizations can be found on the home page.
- Why do you call it EMDC? Please see the explanation here
- Is EMDC a secure gathering? EMDC has maintained relatively tight security over the years. We still do a background/reference check on every person registered for EMDC in-person or EMDC Online. As a result of the disruptions of Covid (facial recognition, contact-tracing, etc), we cannot guarantee the same security level as in the past. If you feel that your present situation may be compromised by attending EMDC, please do not attend.
- Do you offer interpretation (translation) of the speakers? Since this covers Eurasia and beyond, there is not one or even two languages that cover the whole area. Often attendees will translate for colleagues off to the side. This is not a problem.
- Photos: Remember the policy that ALL PERSONS in your photos (preferably outside or in a corner) must approve (even if they are just in the background)
- Will you video record the sessions? Since many in the audience do not desire to be seen on camera, AND sometimes the material being discussed is of a sensitive nature, we do not plan at this time to film our sessions. Previously we have audio recorded the sessions, but now many/most of them are available live or archived in video form at emdc.online.
- Can you help me with visa papers for Thailand and/or Netherlands? Please see the Visa Information page on our Home page or the INFO page. For additional questions you can write to visa@emdc.info
- Can you help me with instructions to get to EMDC? See “Transporation” in the INFO/Home page.
- When we book, can we request a room mate? Yes. You can write to housing@emdc.info at any time.
- Why might there be a credit card fee for housing (when EMDC is in Europe)? All credit cards charge fees. When you pay your housing, there might be a 4% fee that some centres need to pass back to you (depending on our venue). When you pay EMDC registration with a card, we just eat that fee!
- Can I pay by transfer and avoid credit card fees? Yes. When EMDC is in Europe, if there are bank fees for housing, a bank transfer might avoid those fees (the centre can send instructions).
- Can I pay by transfer (from an in-house account) If I am from one of these organizations (SIL/WBT/WA/TSCO/WGA/JAARS)? Yes! Please see the payment transfer option on the payment page of the registration form, or visit our Help Center to submit a ticket for assistance.
- We heard that some people get free registration? You can write to support@emdcon.freshdesk.com
- Is all of the teaching at EMDC given with an endorsement by EMDC? The training workshops offered at EMDC and the pre-EMDC and post-EMDC Tracks are the practices and opinions of the organizations or persons presenting them and are in no way endorsed by EMDC as the best or only approach.
