1. EMDC REGISTRATION, EMDC 2026, Chiang Mai<\/h3>\n

You will need to pay (or make sure you have a waiver, or transfer) to be completely registered (and lock in your early or on-time rate). If you started this registration and are no longer planning to come please let us know. In additions to EMDC (18-21 May) please note that you can also attend pre-EMDC<\/strong> and post-EMDC.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Couple Booking<\/strong>: If you want to get the ‘couple rate’ please be sure to book together in a single registration, indicate that you are attending as “Couple” on details page for each person.<\/p>\n

Onsite Registration on Arrival<\/h3>\n
Registration (where you get your name tag) is open from 13:00 – 18:00 Tuesday 12 May, Sunday 17 May and Friday 22 May and is located in the Empress Convention Center next door to the Empress Hotel.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

2. EMDC HOUSING<\/h3>\n

You will need to pay for your housing (by credit card or internal transfer) to have your housing guaranteed.<\/p>\n

  1. CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR. New Venue – Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Local\/Off site\/Own Arrangements:<\/strong> If you make your own arrangements for housing you will need to pay a Day Participant Fee (see Costs<\/a> page for more info).<\/li>\n
  3. Security Note:<\/strong> If you feel that staying at The Empress will compromise your security (based on the country that you live in), please book\/stay somewhere else. We are taking significant security precautions at EMDC, but we cannot guarantee anonymity for all.\u00a0 \u00a0We are doing many things to make EMDC a secure venue, but we need to state clearly here that it is very possible that your home government learns of your participation at EMDC.\u00a0<\/strong> If this is a problem for you, please do not attend.\u00a0 If you are registered and want to withdraw, please let us know at steve@emdc.info<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Group Booking:<\/strong> Group bookings can be made on the EMDC registration site. A group booking is made by one person, booking multiple rooms for multiple people.<\/li>\n
  5. Housing at the Empress:<\/strong> To help our volunteer logistics team please book, and pay for, your accommodation early! This helps us to serve you better.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A. Price Guarantee.<\/strong> If you are sharing a room and arrive more than one day before the event start (the start of Pre-EMDC, EMDC, or Post-EMDC) you will pay the cost of a single room package (without meals) for each day that you arrive early. We guarantee that you will only need to pay what is indicated to you on the registration site at the time of your registration.<\/p>\n

    \nB. Refunds & Travel Disruptions.\u00a0<\/strong>If you need to cancel and notify us before April 1, we will refund your housing payment in full if the cancellation is due to circumstances beyond your control (at our discretion). Otherwise, refunds may be subject to a 10% transaction fee and other considerations depending on timing and our ability to reassign housing.<\/p>\n

    If you notify us after April 1, we will still do what we can to refund your housing payment. The amount will depend on your type of booking (shared, single, and so on).<\/p>\n

    We understand that current events may create uncertainty for some attendees. At this time, the event is moving forward as planned. If you are unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control (such as flight cancellations or travel restrictions), please contact us and we will review your situation individually. Refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis depending on timing, booking type, and our ability to reassign housing.<\/p>\n

    C. Rooms.<\/strong> Single rooms are available if preferred. Sharing a room is more cost effective.\u00a0 2 and 3 person occupancy is possible and may help your arrangements.<\/p>\n

    D. <\/strong>Roommates<\/strong>. It is preferred that you arrange your own roommates and register together in a single registration if possible. We are happy to find a roommate for you, but we will make the best match that we can to minimize costs for everyone.<\/p>\n

    E. Electrical\/Electronics.<\/strong>\u00a0 Please be aware that the electrical system in Thailand is 230<\/strong> Vac 50 Hz.\u00a0 A US electrical item may fit into the socket<\/em> but be made for 110 only.<\/p>\n

    3. VISAS<\/h3>\n

    See if you need a visa here<\/a> .\u00a0 Our team can help you if you start the process early (like 3 months early), so please enter all your information in the EMDC Registration Form as soon as possible – especially your passport details.     4. AIRPORT TRANSPORT TO THE EMPRESS<\/h3>\n

    The Empress Chiang Mai Hotel (Google Maps location<\/a>) is 4.7 km from Chiang Mai International Airport. Taxis are easily available at the airport to ‘down town’ Chiang Mai for a reasonable fare. Grab<\/a> and Maxim<\/a> are local ride share services that also operate from the airport, if you are familiar with their use.\u00a0 Uber doesn’t operate in Thailand. It will cost around 150 THB – 200 THB from Chiang Mai International Airport to Hotel Empress. More info can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
